MCAS New River Photos
U.S. Marines and members of local police forces and members of the Governor’s Highway Safety Program pose for a picture during the 2019 Fourth of July ‘Booze it & Lose it’ event, code-named Operation Firecracker on Marine Corps Air Station New River, July 1, 2019. The event featured speakers from the air station and local law enforcement. The goal of the event was to eliminate preventable loss of life on North Carolina roadways by discouraging driving while impaired and encouraging the public to use other safe options like ride sharing and commercial transportation. This is the first time the event has been held at Marine Corps Air Station New River, which was chosen to be the backdrop due to the large concentration of young male adults who are considered to be the most at-risk age group.
