Sergeant Major Kyle R. DuBois

Sergeant Major Kyle R. DuBois is a native of Chicopee, Massachusetts.  He enlisted in the Marine Corps in August of 2004, completed recruit training at MCRD Parris Island, and upon completion of Marine Combat Training and MOS school was assigned the MOS 0231, Intelligence Specialist.

In June of 2005, he arrived at his first duty station, 3d Marine Regiment Headquarters in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.  In December 2005, he was meritoriously promoted to Corporal and in January of 2006, he deployed to Afghanistan with 1st Battalion 3rd Marines in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, where he participated in operation “Mountain Lion” in the Korengal Valley. 

In September 2006, he completed the Marine Reconnaissance indoctrination and conducted a lateral move into the Reconnaissance occupational specialty field earning the MOS 0321, Reconnaissance Man.  In March 2006, he was assigned to Alpha Company, 1st Reconnaissance Battalion and served in a variety of leadership billets.  In June 2007, he was promoted to Sergeant.  During this time, he deployed again on the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, WESTPAC 82.

In March 2009, he was selected for high-risk instructor duty at the Marine Combatant Dive Course, Naval Diving and Salvage Training Center, Panama City Beach, Florida.  While in Florida, he served as a high-risk instructor and SCUBA team leader.  In April 2011, he was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant.

In May 2012, he was assigned to Bravo Company, 2d Reconnaissance Battalion where he served as a Reconnaissance Team Leader and deployed on the Special Purpose MAGTF Crisis Response in May 2013. During this deployment, his recon team was selected to conduct an embassy reinforcement in Tripoli, Libya as a part of Operation Jukebox Lotus where he also provided support to the Department of State as a Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC). 

Upon his return, he was assigned to 2d Force Reconnaissance Company where he served as a Force Reconnaissance Team Leader.  In January 2015, he was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant and was assigned as the Battalion Training Chief and deployed on a USSOCOM Integrated Survey Team, where he assisted in the survey of two U.S. Embassies in the SOUTHCOM AOR.  The remainder of his tour was served as a Reconnaissance Platoon Sergeant and JTAC Evaluator, until December 2015. 

From 2015 to 2018 he served as a Marine Security Guard Detachment Commander at U.S. Embassy Kyiv, Ukraine, and as a Marine Security Guard Detachment Commander and Senior Enlisted Advisor with the Marine Security Guard Security Augmentation Unit, Quantico, Virginia.

In June 2018, was frocked to the rank of First Sergeant. In July 2018, Sgt. Maj. DuBois assumed duties as Company First Sergeant, Landing Support Company, 3d Transportation Support Battalion.  In May 2019, Sgt. Maj. DuBois assumed duties as the Company First Sergeant of Motor Transport Company, 3d Transportation Support Battalion.  In March 2020, he assumed duties as the Headquarters and Service Company First Sergeant. In April 2021, he was appointed as the Battalion Sergeant Major, 3d Transportation Battalion.  In August 2021, Sgt. Maj. DuBois assumed duties as II MEF Information Group Headquarters First Sergeant.  In January 2022, Sgt. Maj. DuBois assumed the duties of Headquarters First Sergeant, 2d Intelligence Battalion.  In December 2022, Sgt. Maj. DuBois was promoted to his current rank and in January 2023, he assumed the role as Squadron Sergeant Major for Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, Marine Corps Air Station New River.    

Sgt. Maj. DuBois' education includes the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (distinguished graduate), USMC Senior Enlisted Academy PME, SNCO Academy Advanced Course (Honor Graduate), and was a distinguished graduate of the SNCO Academy's Career and Sergeants Course.  Sgt. Maj. DuBois earned his Resilience Building Leadership Professional Trainer (RBLP-T) certificate in 2020. He has earned an Associates of Arts Degree in General Studies with honors and a Bachelors of Arts Degree, Summa Cum Laude in Security Management both from American Military University. He has earned a Masters of Science in Project Management, and two Graduate Certificates in Leadership and Technical Project Management from The Citadel with distinction.

His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with gold stars in lieu of fifth award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and Meritorious Honor Award from the State Department in lieu of second award.  He is a qualified Static-line Jumpmaster and Marine Combatant Diver.
