20th Anniversary of 9/11

On September 11, 2001, almost 3,000 people lost their lives in the largest terrorist attack on American soil during the attacks at the Twin Towers, Pentagon and aboard United Airlines Flight 93. At 8:46 a.m. ET, American Airlines Flight 11 (traveling from Boston to Los Angeles) hit the north tower of the World Trade Center in New York City. At 9:03 a.m. ET, United Airlines Flight 175 (traveling from Boston to Los Angeles) hit the south tower of the World Trade Center in New York City. At 9:37 a.m. ET, American Airlines Flight 77 (traveling from Dulles, Virginia, to Los Angeles) hit the Pentagon Building in Washington D.C. And at 10:03 a.m. ET, United Airlines Flight 93 (traveling from Newark, New Jersey, to San Francisco) crashed in a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

MCAS New River Elevates to HPCON Bravo Plus

TROPICAL STORM ELSA UPDATE - JULY 7, 2021 @ 11 a.m.

NORMAL OPERATIONS THURSDAY, JULY 8 - As of the 11 a.m. [EDT] update from the National Hurricane Center, Tropical Storm Elsa will make landfall in Florida today and lift northeast passing just to the west of eastern North Carolina Thursday into Thursday evening. Forecast impacts are expected to be below the threshold for an elevation in Tropical Cyclone Conditions of Readiness by the installation emergency operations center.

TROPICAL STORM ELSA UPDATE - JULY 6, 2021 @ 11 A.M.

As of the 11 a.m. [EDT] update from the National Hurricane Center, Tropical Storm Elsa is forecast to weaken to a tropical depression and be below the threshold for an elevation in Tropical Cyclone Conditions of Readiness by the station emergency operations center.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY: N.C. Hwy 17 and Douglass Road

Beginning June 21, there will be road construction activities at the intersection of Douglass Road and N.C. Highway 17. The Juneteenth National Independence Day Act was signed into law today establishing June 19th as a federal holiday. As the 19th falls on a Saturday, most federal employees will observe the holiday, Friday, June 18.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Smoke advisory continues, Verona Loop Road closure

Motorists traveling along U.S. Highway 17 in the vicinity of Verona Loop Road Wednesday evening and Thursday morning are urged to exercise extreme caution due to expected low visibility caused by smoke emanating from a wildfire in a remote woodland area on Camp Lejeune.

MCIEAST Installation Mask Policy Update

In support of updated Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines recently released, subject to applicable labor relations obligations, fully vaccinated DoD personnel (who are at least two weeks beyond their final dose) are no longer required to wear masks indoors or outdoors at MCIEAST facilities. Unvaccinated personnel are required to follow applicable DoD mask guidance, including continuing to wear masks indoors.
