JACKSONVILLE, N.C. -- The Deputy Secretary of Defense requires all Service members, Federal employees, onsite contractor employees, and visitors, regardless of vaccination status, to wear a mask in an indoor setting in installations and other facilities owned, leased or otherwise controlled by DoD.
Service members, Federal employees, onsite contractor employees, and visitors who are not fully vaccinated also need to continue to physically distance consistent with applicable CDC and DoD Force Health Protection guidance.
MCAS New River will begin enforcing the policy, effective 30 July 2021.
The attached memorandum applies to installations located in areas of substantial or high community transmission, which includes Onslow County, North Carolina. CDC data on levels of community transmission can be found at: https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/
The resurgence of COVID-19 is expected to continue to influence decision making; we will share new guidance as the situation evolves. Leadership at all levels are asked to pay close attention to your surroundings and remain diligent.
