FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Local Floridians, U.S. Marines, Sailors and Coast Guardsmen gather at the welcoming party for participants of Fleet Week Port Everglades 2014 from South Floridian local community leaders at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., April 28. Approximately 120 Marines from 2nd Assault Amphibian Battalion, 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C., and Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron (HMLA) 269, Marine Corps Air Station New River, N.C., embarked aboard the USS New York (LPD 21) and are participating in the 24th Annual Fleet Week in Port Everglades; South Florida’s annual celebration of maritime forces.
