Salmon, outgoing commanding officer, Marine Corps Air Station New River, stands at attention in a change of command ceremony before being awarded the Legion of Merit with a gold star in lieu of second award for his service and leadership as commander of MCAS New River. Salmon turned over his command to Col. Russell C. Burton, after serving the air station and surrounding community for three years as the commanding officer.

MARINE CORPS AIR STATION NEW RIVER, N.C. - Col. Timothy M. Salmon, outgoing commanding officer, Marine Corps Air Station New River, stands at attention in a change of command ceremony before being awarded the Legion of Merit with a gold star in lieu of second award for his service and leadership as commander of MCAS New River.
