Marines mingled with volunteers from the community to put forth a great effort to restore the park. The maintenance of the park is critical due to the recent status change of the reservoir because of the recent rupture of a water main in Boston. The Chestnut Hill Reservoir was an emergency backup source of water but now is supplying water to thousands of citizens in Boston; therefore the maintenance of the park is paramount.
