NOTES WORTH MENTIONING:
AS-840 C-12 Hangar: The C-12 hangar is the oldest hangar and building aboard the Air Station. It was constructed in Haiti in 1921 and later moved to Parris Island in January 1934. It was again dismantled, moved, and reassembled on 1 July 1952 in an old airfield area across the taxiway from the previous location of the 1942 nose hangar and designated AS-840. There it remains today, not only the oldest hangar but the oldest structure aboard the air station and all of Camp Lejeune, under its popular name as the “King Air Hangar,” and reposes as a quiet veteran of Marine Corps history.
