Sergeant Major Forras enlisted in the Marine Corps on 7 October, 2003 from White Plains, New York and attended recruit training at MCRD Paris Island.
In August of 2004, PFC Forras reported into Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron (MALS) 11 in Miramar, CA, for duty as an aviation machinist mate, where he served as a T-56, C-130, jet engine mechanic, and test cell operator.
In January of 2006, he deployed with Marine Wing Support Group 37 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom where he would serve as a member of the Al Asad Air Station’s QRF.
In January of 2006, Corporal Forras reported into Marine Security Guard Battalion and upon graduation, Sergeant Forras was subsequently assigned to the U.S. Embassy in Moscow, Russia where he served as a squad leader. In June of 2009, Staff Sergeant Forras was transferred to the U.S. Embassy in Ankara, Turkey, where he served as both the Assistant and Acting Detachment Commander.
In March of 2010, Staff Sergeant Forras reported to I&I duty with MALS-49 in Newburgh, NY, where he served as the Power Plants Division Chief, and Detachment Gunnery Sergeant for MAG-49 Det B.
In December of 2013, Staff Sergeant Forras performed “Sun-Down” operations for the MALS-49 Power Plants division and reported to Marine Arial Refueler Transport Squadron (VMGR) 152 in Okinawa, Japan where he would serve as the Power Line Division Chief and would help in the historic relocation of the squadron from MCAS Funtenma to MCAS Iwakuni.
In November 2014, Gunnery Sergeant Forras continued his tour with VMGR-152 as the Power Line Division Chief and subsequently served as both the Squadron Gunnery Sergeant and Acting Sergeant Major while earning his Bachelor of Science in I/O Psychology.
In December of 2016, Gunnery Sergeant Forras reported to MALS-24, on Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Kaneohe Bay, where he would serve as the Power Plant Division Chief, Production Control SNCOIC, and would once again “Sun-Down” a T-56 Power Plants Work Center.
In June of 2018, First Sergeant Forras reported to Instructor Inspector Duty in San Jose, CA as the I-I First Sergeant, where he and his Marines were faced with unprecedented operational challenges resulting from the COVID-19 global pandemic and the development of the Marine Corps Innovation Unit.
In June of 2021, First Sergeant Forras reported to Security & Emergency Services Company, H&S Bn, MCIEAST-MCB Camp Lejeune and in January of 2022, transferred to Bravo Company. In Spring of 2023 First Sergeant Forras was accepted as an MBA Candidate with Penn State where he is currently enrolled. In December of 2023 he was promoted to Sergeant Major and is currently serving as the Sergeant Major for H&HS, MCAS New River.
Sergeant Major Forras has received the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal with gold star, the Navy Achievement Medal with gold star, and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal and Presidential Call to Service.
