Pass and Registration
The MCAS New River Main Gate, located on Curtis Rd., is open seven days a week, 24 hours a day. The Douglass Gate, south of the main gate on N.c. Highway 17 is open Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and closed on all federal holidays.
Pass and Registration is located at the MCAS New River Visitor Center located in Building AS-187, adjacent to the MCAS New River Main Gate on Curtis Road. The visitor center is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and is closed on weekends and federal holidays. Building AS-187 provides parking for customers, up to one hour. After one hour, your vehicle will be towed and stored off base at your own expense.
Active duty service members, dependents, civilian employees and contractors are required to register their vehicle(s); retirees are highly encouraged but not required to register their vehicles.

Authorized DoD ID cardholders wishing to sponsor guests on MCAS New River are required to do the following:

  • Complete the Sponsored Visitor Form (SECNAV 55121)
    • ‚ÄčNOTE: You must download the form to your device, then open the PDF and enable all features.
    • Drop-off completed form in person at the MCAS New River Visitor Center (Bldg. AS-187).

Upon arrival at MCAS New River, visitors are directed to report to the visitor center (Bldg. AS-187) to obtain a DBIDS credential. They will have their identity validated, be subject to a criminal history check (conducted when pre-registered), be photographed and digitally fingerprinted. Visitors who are driving are required to produce a valid driver’s license, state registration and proof of insurance. Wait times may be lengthy for visitors who did not pre-register.

  • PLEASE NOTE: If you are an active duty service member or an adult family member and reside on base and the visitor is your parent, sibling or grandparent you may request a DBIDS credential for up to one year.  Ask a Security Assistant at the visitor center for details.

Sponsors can avoid the visitor center process entirely by meeting their visitor at the gate and escorting them in person.

All vetting for contractors has been moved to the Contractor Vetting Office on MCB Camp Lejeune, located in Bldg. 817, adjacent to the Main Gate on Holcomb Blvd. The CVO is open Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. For more information, please visit the CVO website.

Active duty service members, dependents, civilian employees and contractors are required to register their personally owned vehicles/motorcycles within 30 days of arrival. Please review the chart below for specific requirements.
Please note the original documentation is required, with the exception of liability insurance, where an electronic copy may be provided.
Vehicles Driver’s License
• DoD identification card
• State vehicle registration
• Proof of liability insurance (must meet NC minimum of 30/60/25)
• Driver's Improvement Course certificate (active duty under age 26)
NOTE: Reservists must present a command authorized letter.
• All of the above vehicle requirements
• Motorcycle Safety Foundation Course certificate
• Motorcycle endorsement on Driver’s License
Note: If you are scheduled to take the Motorcycle Safety Foundation course on base, you are permitted a 3 day pass (day prior to course, day of course and day after course). Once the Motorcycle Safety Foundation Course is completed, motorcycle riders must get a motorcycle endorsement on their license.
