Major Shuler is a native of Bowling Green, Ohio. He attended The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in December of 2014. Upon graduation he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps and reported to Delta Company 15 at The Basic School in Quantico, VA.
After graduating from TBS in November 2015, he reported to Marine Air Training Support Group 21 in Pensacola, Florida. He was subsequently designated as a Naval Aviator in 2016 and reported to MCAS Camp Pendleton, California for advanced helicopter training in the UH-1Y.
Upon qualification in model, Major Shuler reported to Marine Corps Air Station New River, North Carolina for duty with HMLA-167. During his time here he served in various Flight operations roles, the squadron adjutant, and finally the Aviation Safety Officer after completion of Aviation Safety Officer school at Pensacola, Florida in 2021. In 2022, Major Shuler deployed as part of VMM-263 Reinforced on the 22 MEU and flew in various NATO exercises and operations, primarily in the Baltic Sea.
Immediately following this deployment, Major Shuler reported to H&HS New River to serve as the Director of Safety and Standardization and fly the UC-12W. In 2024, he deployed to Germany in support of Marine Corps Forces Europe and Africa. Major Shuler has since performed as the Operations Officer and now Executive Officer.
His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with 1 gold star.
