Marines support reservoir cleanup during water emergency
May 4, 2010
BOSTON, Massachusetts - Sgt. Christopher Joyner and Lance Cpl. Phillip Koch, infantrymen with 3rd Battalion, 24th Marines, Lima Company from Johnson City, Tenn., dig and plant flowers during a combined effort with four volunteer organizations at Chestnut Hill Reservation in support of Marine Week Boston, May 3, 2010. Marines mingled with volunteers from the community to put forth a great effort to restore the park. The maintenance of the park is critical due to the recent status change of the reservoir because of the recent rupture of a water main in Boston. The Chestnut Hill Reservoir was an emergency backup source of water but now is supplying water to thousands of citizens in Boston; therefore the maintenance of the park is paramount.
