All Marines reporting to Marine Corps Air Station for duty during regular business hours will report to the Installation Personnel Administration Center (IPAC) (Bldg AS-201, 910 449-7268) in the uniform of the day. After regular business hours, all personnel will report to their respective Command Duty Officer either at MAG-26  449-6126, MAG-29 449-6345, or MCAS New River Air Station HQ’s bldg AS-211 449-5411). In order to be checked in you must have in your possession your Service Record Book, Health, and Dental Record, and one copy of all your previous sets of orders bringing you to MCAS New River and all receipts pertinent to your movement. Upon being checked in with the IPAC, you will then be directed by an IPAC clerk to report to your permanent command for an official reporting endorsement and further administrative processing instructions. All service members from other branches will report to their respective supporting unit detachment for an endorsement and will then report to the IPAC for further administrative processing. This will include a join audit of your Service Record and a complete a travel claim.

VETERINARIAN TREATMENT FACILITY AND PET REGISTRATION

The veterinary office is located at Tarawa Terrace Housing Area, Building TT-2459. Hours of registration are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call (910) 450-1607.

Dogs, cats, tropical fish, guinea pigs, white mice, gerbils and caged birds are the only pets authorized in family housing. Other pets must be specifically authorized in writing by the base housing office. All pets in base housing must be registered with the Base Vet Clinic. For more information, call (910) 450 1627.

IDENTIFICATION CARDS AND VEHICLE REGISTRATION

All motorized vehicles operated aboard MCAS New River must be registered with the vehicle registration section of the Provost Marshal's Office. Permanent decals are issued at Building AS-187. Decals are not issued on weekends, holidays or during inclement weather. In addition to the motor vehicle requirements, motorcyclists, regardless of age, must have in their possession an endorsed motorcycle license from their home state or the state of North Carolina and have attended a motorcycle safety course.

  • Valid state vehicle registration.
  • State operator's license.
  • Proof of valid insurance with all operator names on policy.
  • Valid motor vehicle inspection sticker.

Notarized permission from the owner is required when the vehicle belongs to a spouse or other relative.
Military members under the age of 26 must have proof of completing a Marine Corps driver's improvement course. For more information, call the Pass and ID office, Building AS-187, at (910) 449-6354.

Child Education

On-base education is provided to children of military personnel who live in base housing.

DeLalio Elementary School provides all students kindergarten through sixth grade with varied and challenging opportunities for learning, good citizenship and community interaction. They are located at 1500 Curtis Road. For more information, call (910) 449-0601.

There are six elementary schools, one middle school and one high school supporting nearly 3,700 students throughout the Camp Lejeune/ New River complex.

In addition, Camp Lejeune Dependent Schools offer a half-day preschool program for all children who are 4 years old and living on base.

To register children in the system, parents or guardians must reside in base housing or have a letter from the Base Housing Office stating they will have base housing within 90 days. Registration is held in the summer at the school of attendance. For further information, call the Superintendent's Office at (910) 451-2461.

Base School Information

An information line is available for parents and students to get up-to-date information on school hours, closings and activities for the eight base schools. To access the line, call (910) 451-0995 and follow the prompts.

Adult Education

In-depth and comprehensive degree programs are offered by various colleges on Station, leading toward completion of an associate, baccalaureate and even a master's degree program. For information on what New River has to offer, call (910) 449-6233.

All residents of staff and officer housing must register personal weapons stored at their residence with the Provost Marshal's Office. Personnel living in the bachelor enlisted quarters or the bachelor officer quarters are not permitted to store their personal weapons in their rooms. When registering a weapon, the weapon itself should not be taken to the PMO. Please bring in the weapon make, model, caliber, serial number and barrel length. A background check will be conducted to determine if the individual is authorized to possess a weapon. PMO is located in Building AS-302. Hours of registration are 24 hours a day, seven days a week. MCAS New River's pools are usually open Memorial Day to Labor Day. For exact dates and times please visit our website, http://www.mccsnr.com. Pools are available Tuesday through Sunday, 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. for special events and private parties.

  • The Station Pool is larger than the family pool and is also used as a training facility for the troops. For those who want to dive right in, we have a diving board and pool depths from 4' to 11' 9". Whether it be for lap swim or just recreational swim, you are sure to have a good time at this pool during the summer months.

As a zero depth entry pool, this pool is geared more toward families with small children. The pool has a max depth of 5' 5". The Family Pool is a plaster pool, water shoes are highly encouraged. Young children are required to wear swim pants and/or rubber pants.

Our Marina offers dry storage, boat slips, watercraft rentals, primitive camp sites and so much more. Drive down to the water take a look around and chat with our knowledgeable staff. We recommended patrons call ahead due to the ever-changing Carolina weather; we have to roll with the tide. The Marina also operates under seasonal hours during fall and winter.

Anyone under the age of 26 operating a vessel powered by a 10 horsepower or greater motor on public waterways must complete an approved boater safety course. Vessel operators must be able to show compliance upon request of a law enforcement officer. If you plan to rent one of our watercraft please plan ahead and make sure you complete the approved safety courses. If you have questions, please contact the Marina staff before heading out on the water.

If you intend on fishing during your stay please make sure you have the appropriate licenses. Fishing licenses may be purchased at the MCX Lejeune Annex and Wal-Mart. A base fishing license authorizes the user to fish only in base ponds and can be purchased on Lejeune at the MCX Annex.

The Marine Corps Air Station New River Youth Sports, an affiliate of Camp Lejeune's Youth Sports, is designed to offer dependent youth of active duty and retired military, DoD and MCCS employees a variety of opportunities to participate in organized sporting activities. We encourage children to develop enthusiasm for participation, which becomes the foundation for life-long interests in personal fitness and good health. COMMISSARY AND EXCHANGE

COMMISSARY

  • The New River Commissary is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and is closed on Sunday. Call (910) 449-6395 for more information. There is also a commissary located at Camp Lejeune. They can be reached at (910) 451-5071. To reach the food inspector, call (910) 451-2074.

EXCHANGE

  • The Marine Corps Exchange is located next to the New River Commissary. It carries items such as snacks, liquor and beer, as well as some uniform items. They can be reached at (910) 449 0539. The main exchange complex is located next to the Camp Lejeune Commissary and carries all of the above, plus clothing, furniture and other items. They can be reached at (910) 451-5030.
